IT System Maintenance and Service Status

Overview

The Information Technology Department is dedicated to maintaining reliable, secure, and available IT services. The IT System Status Dashboard has been designed to provide the University community with a reliable, centralized source for information about the availability of IT systems and services, including planned maintenance and unplanned outages.

IT System Status Dashboard

The IT System Status Dashboard provides current information about current unplanned outages, service disruptions, and planned maintenance affecting university technology services. It is available anytime anywhere with your SHU credentials. You can access it directly at ITstatus.sacredheart.edu or from the Information Technology tab of mySHU.

Experiencing a problem with an IT service or application? Before submitting a support request, check the IT System Status Dashboard to see if there is a known outage or service disruption.

The dashboard can help you quickly determine whether an issue you are experiencing is part of a known, broader service interruption.

What You'll Find on the Dashboard

Services may display one of the following statuses:

🔴 - Investigating â€” The issue is being actively assessed to determine the cause and impact.

🟠- Identified— The cause has been identified and corrective action is underway.

🟡 - Monitoring â€” A fix has been implemented and the environment is being monitored to confirm stability.

🟢- Resolved â€” The issue has been corrected and normal service has been restored.

During a Known Outage

If your issue is already listed on the IT System Status Dashboard, you do not need to report it againReporting the same known outage multiple times does not speed up resolution and can make it more difficult for support teams to identify unrelated problems requiring attention.

IT teams are actively working on the issue. Check the dashboard for updates and notification when service has been restored. Refresh the dashboard to ensure the latest updates are displayed.

If your issue is outside the Standard IT Maintenance Window and is not listed on the IT System Status Dashboard, please contact the PioTech Center..

Understanding an IT Outage

An IT outage occurs when a technology service is unavailable or significantly impaired for multiple users.

Examples include:

  • An application is unavailable.
  • Users cannot log in or authenticate.
  • Internet, Wi-Fi, or network connectivity is disrupted.
  • Email or collaboration services are unavailable.
  • A university website or online service cannot be reached.
  • A third-party technology provider is experiencing an outage.

An issue affecting only one person or device may not represent an outage. The PioTech Center can help determine whether the problem is individual or widespread.

Standard IT Maintenance Window

The Standard IT Maintenance Window is a designated time for planned technology maintenance and updates. While SHU IT services are not expected to be unavailable every week, some systems may experience temporary interruptions when maintenance is required. Planned outages will be communicated in advance whenever possible.

The Standard IT Maintenance Window is Sundays, 1 AM – 7 AM

Is My Software Application Down?

If you're having trouble accessing an application:

  1. Check the IT System Status Dashboard. Look for the application or related service.
