Enable Respondus Lockdown Browser for Assessments

​​​Enable Respondus Lockdown Browser in Blackboard Ultra

This guide will walk a user through enabling Respondus Lockdown Browser on a Blackboard Ultra Assessment. 

  1. Enter your course and select the assessment you would like to enable Lockdown Browser on. 
  2. Select the assignment settings Gear IconUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. On the right hand side, select Lockdown Browser Dashboard

  4. Select the drop down arrow to the left of the test name and select Settings
  5. Select Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam to enable lockdown browser. If you would like students to also view feedback and exam results using lockdown browser, leave the setting below checked. 
    Note: Lockdown browser prevents them from copying and pasting the exam.

  6. Optional: Select Require Respondus Monitor for this exam if you would like the students to be recorded taking the exam. The software will provide you with 20 second clips of video playback at points which the application believes the student may have cheated. This could be when someone walks into the room, the students eyes move off the screen and several other situtations. As the Instructor, you can review these clips to determine if the student did cheat. This is not required to use Respondus Lockdown Browser, but is another layer of security for the assessment.

  7. Select Save & Close. 

Important Notes

  • When Respondus Lockdown Browser is enabled, students must have the software on the computer to access the assessment. They can download it at https://software.sacredheart.edu.
  • We have learned if your test has a special character in the name (​&, *, $, #, etc.), students with a MAC computer will not be able to launch the test. Please do not include these characters in your test to prevent technical issues.
