This documentation will guide you through the process of mapping a network drive on Windows to the Great River Golf Club (GRGC) Shared Drive.
Prerequisites: Before proceeding, ensure the following prerequisites are met:
- You have appropriate permissions to access the shared folder or drive.
- You are connected to the network where the shared folder or drive resides.
Procedure:
Step 1: Open File Explorer: Open File Explorer by either clicking on the File Explorer icon in the taskbar or pressing the Windows Key + E
on your keyboard.
Step 2: Access "This PC": In File Explorer, locate and click on "This PC" or "Computer" in the left-hand navigation pane.
Step 3: Map Network Drive: Once "This PC" or "Computer" is selected, right-click on "This PC" and then click on "Map network drive".
Step 4: Choose Drive Letter: A "Map Network Drive" dialog box will appear. In this dialog box, you can choose the drive letter you want to assign to the network drive. Select the Drive Letter "Y" as that's what they are most comfortable with.
Step 5: Enter Network Path: In the "Folder" field, enter the full network path of the shared folder or drive you want to map. For the GRGC Shared Drive, the network path is \\grgcfs01.gr.loc\shared

Step 6: Reconnect at Sign-in: Check the box next to "Reconnect at Sign-in".
Step 7: Connect Using Different Credentials: Most people who will need access are GRGC employees, they will use the credentials that they use for their email. So they can log in to the Shared Drive with those credentials, click on "different credentials" and provide the required information. Enter the GRGC domain and have them enter their username and password, and click "OK".

Step 8: Click Finish: Once you've entered the necessary information, click "Finish" to map the network drive. Windows will attempt to connect to the shared folder using the provided information.
Step 9: Access Mapped Drive: After successfully mapping the network drive, you can access it like any other drive on your computer. It will appear in File Explorer under "This PC" with the drive letter you assigned to it.
