How to Send an Encrypted Email in Microsoft 365

Use email encryption when sending confidential or sensitive information. Encryption ensures only the intended recipient can read your message.


Encrypt an Email in Outlook (Desktop)

Steps

  1. Open Outlook

  2. Click New Email

  3. Write your email

  4. Click Options at the top

  5. Select Encrypt

  6. Choose one:

    • Encrypt – Protects the message

    • Do Not Forward – Prevents forwarding, copying, or printing

  7. Click Send

Steps

  1. Go to https://outlook.office.com

  2. Click New message
