How to Run an Employee Balance Report on Dayforce

The "balances" section of DayForce for your team's current year can be misleading if a person has already requested time off for the next fiscal year.  To get an accurate picture of the remaining vacation days balance for each person on your team, managers should follow the steps below.

How Managers Run Employee Balance Report in Dayforce

  1. Log in to mySHU
  2. Click on DayForce
  3. At the Select Role prompt, click on "Manager with WFM"
  4. Click on the PEOPLE icon in the top right-hand section of the window

  5. Click on "Reports" on the menu bar
  6. Scroll down in the left navigation pane to "Employee Balance Report" and click on it once 
  7. Click on the icon to the right of the "Organization" field and choose the division and location of your team that you want to review, then click "OK" 
    • Your specific options will be displayed
    • You can only select one division and location combination at a time
  8. For the "Date", near the "As of" field, enter the last day of the month or the fiscal year (ex: 06/30/2026) 
    • It defaults to the current date, and if left this way, only vacation days taken so far will be calculated; it will not include vacation days requested after the date listed
    • If you want a specific time frame, choose "Date Range" and enter the start and end dates desired
  9. Click on the icon to the right of the "Manager" field to select yourself and click "OK"
  10. For "Employees" select "All Employees" to see the results for the entire team or "Selected Employee" if you want to limit the results to only one person on the team
  11. For the "Type" filter, choose "Vacation"
  12. Click on "Run Report" on the bottom right of the screen
  13. The following message will briefly appear

    2. The report will generate and appear in your DayForce Inbox (not your Outlook Inbox)
  14. Close the Reports window 
  15. To view the report, click on the Messages icon in the top right-hand part of the window

  16. The report should be the top item in your Dayforce Inbox, if it is not there yet, click the Refresh icon
  17. Open the message, then click on the report name so that it downloads and is available to view 
  18. Review the results
    1. Remind employees to use their time off!
