SAS Installation
This install process can take upwards of an hour. Your computer must be connected to the Sacred Heart network or VPN for this process. It is highly recommended that the installation be done on campus with a wired internet connection.
- On a Windows machine, click Start -> Run, or open a File Explorer window.
- Type \\SHUCRSP01\SAS to open the SAS Software Depot shared network folder.
- If prompted, authenticate to the shared folder with your SHU username and password.
- Ensure that the username is entered as "SACREDHEART\username". On a student laptop, the default domain will be the PC name. If "SACREDHEART\" does not precede the username then the domain will not be correct, and the username will not properly authenticate.
- Run the setup.exe application file from within the window that opens.
- Follow all on-screen prompts (detailed below)
- At "Select a language", ensure English is selected and click OK.
- At "Select Deployment Task", ensure that Install SAS Software is selected and click Next.
- Leave the default installation folder for SAS Home, and click Next.
- At "Select Deployment Type", ensure that Install SAS Foundation and Related Software is selected and click Next.
- At "Select Products to Install", do not un-check any of the options. Click Next.
- At "Select SAS Foundation Mode", ensure that 64-bit Native Mode is selected and click Next.
- At "Select SAS Enterprise Guide Mode", ensure that 64-bit Native Mode is selected and click Next.
- At "Select SAS Foundation Products", do not un-check any of the options. Click Next.
- At "Specify SAS Installation Data File", ensure that the Expiration Date is later than today's date. Click Next.
- At "Select Language Support", do not un-check any of the options. Click Next.
- At "Select Regional Settings" ensure that English is selected and click Next.
- At "Default Product for SAS File Types" ensure that SAS Foundation (64-bit) is selected and click Next.
- The Deployment Wizard will now perform a system check.
- If you receive the following error message: "An issue has been encountered with your SAS Software Depot that cannot be corrected. A summary of the error is shown below. Full details can be found in the log at C:\Program files\SASHome\InstallMisc\InstallLogs", please contact Academic Computing. The SAS Software Depot may need to be reinstalled.
- When the System Check is complete, click Next.
- At "Deployment Summary" click Start.
- The installation will take upwards of an hour.
- At "Deployment Complete" click Next.
- At "Select Support Option" ensure that Do Not Send is selected and click Next.
- Click Finish
SAS Renewal
If the SAS license expires, the software can be used again by renewing the license file. Your computer must be connected to the Sacred Heart network or VPN for this process.
- On a Windows machine, click Start -> Run, or open a File Explorer window.
- Type \\SHUCRSP01\SAS\sid_files to open the SAS Software Depot shared network folder.
- Copy "SAS94_9BSVLV_70187545_Win_X64_Wrkstn.txt" to the desktop.
- From the Windows Apps menu, open the "SAS Folder"
- Launch the "Renew SAS Software 9.4" application.
- Click "OK" to select English language.
- Ensure that "Apply SAS Foundation license file for renewal" is checked, and click Next.
- Click the Browse button, navigate to the desktop and select "SAS94_9BSVLV_70187545_Win_X64_Wrkstn.txt". Then click "Open"
- Ensure that the SAS license file is read correctly. You will see in the bottom half of the window that the product is SAS 9.4 and the expiration date is later than today's date. Then click "Next."
- Click Start. Wait for the process to complete (approx 20 seconds). Then click "Next."
- Click Finish to complete the installation.
