Group assignments allow faculty to collect and grade student work electronically. One student from the group will submit the assignment, and during grading, all students will receive the grade. This reduces the amount of time spent grading
Procedure
- Login to the course where you would like to add an assignment.
- Enter your course
- In the middle of the page, select the _ icon where you'd like to add the assignment.
- Select Create.
- On the right hand side select Assignment.
- In the top left corner, enter the name for the assignment.
- In the middle of the page, select the + icon.
- If you have the instructions available in a file that is saved to your computer, select add local file from the menu.
- If you have the instructions available in a file that is saved to your OneDrive, select add file from Cloud Storage and select OneDrive.
- If you are typing your instructions on the screen, select add text and proceed to enter the instructions.
- On the right-hand side, select the gear in the top right corner.
- Modify the various settings available:
- D​ue Date: enter the date and time the assignment is due. This syncs with the Blackboard calendar for students and allows them to see a clear picture of when their assignments are due across all courses. This helps the student when planning their course work.
- Grade Category: by default, the assignments are placed in the assignment category. This is used for weighted total grading in the grade book.
- Grading: Select the type of grading you would like to use. The options available are points, letter and percentage. Enter the maximum points available for the assignment
- Under Additional Tools, select Assign to groups. Select the drop down list and chose the existing groups created, or create a group.
