A full list of all the Read&Write download links can be found on the Student Resources page. Additional information about the Read&Write software can be found on the Texthelp Academy website.
You must also install the following extensions to enable the full functionality of Read&Write
Google Chrome
- Go to the Google Chrome extension page
- Select Add to Chrome, then select Add extension in the notice
- MacOS devices may also require the credentials of an Administrator account on the device
- Pin the Read&Write extension icon by using one of the following methods
- Open the extension settings then turn on Pin to toolbar
- Click the Extensions icon then click the Pin icon next to Read&Write for Google Chrome
- Open a simple page such as google.com then click the Read&Write icon from the Extensions menu in the top-right corner
- Select Sign in with Microsoft and proceed through the log in with your SHU email and password
- If the page does not appear, it can be directly accessed here
- Click For Education on the pop-up welcome screen
- The Read&Write toolbar will now appear when the Read&Write extension icon is clicked
- If some toolbar features are grayed out, select the three-dot menu in the toolbar, navigate to Settings -> Accounts, click Sign in with Microsoft, then log in with your SHU email and password
Microsoft Edge
- Go to the Microsoft Edge extension page
- Select Get, then select Add extension in the notice
- MacOS devices may also require the credentials of an Administrator account on the device
- Pin the Read&Write extension icon
- Click the Extensions icon then click the "Show in toolbar" icon next to Read&Write for Microsoft Edge
- Open a simple page such as google.com then click the Read&Write icon from the Extensions menu in the top-right corner
- Select Sign in with Microsoft and proceed through the log in with your SHU email and password
- Sign in may might be bypassed when
- Click For Education on the pop-up welcome screen
- The Read&Write toolbar will now appear when the Read&Write extension icon is clicked
- If some toolbar features are grayed out, select the three-dot menu in the toolbar, navigate to Settings -> Accounts, click Sign in with Microsoft, then log in with your SHU email and password
MacOS
- Download the Mac installer from the Student Resources page
- Select Allow if prompted to accept downloads
- Once the download is complete, open the read&write.dmg file
- Inside of the newly opened installer window, click and drag the Read&Write logo into the Applications folder and wait about 10-15 seconds for the copy process to complete
- Open Launchpad then open Read&Write
- This application icon can be added to the desktop or pinned to the taskbar for convenience
- Select Open if a warning appears that the app was downloaded from the internet
- Read&Write will now need Accessibility access
- Select Open Privacy & Security from the popup window, then enable the toggle for Read&Write
- This can also be done directly by going to System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Accessibility
- Input your local computer login information to allow the Privacy & Security change
- Select Done on the popup from step 7, then Allow on the new popup for access to System Events
- Open Launchpad then open Read&Write
- Select I accept the User Terms then select OK
- On the sign in page, select Sign in with Microsoft
- Enter your full SHU email, password, and authenticator information
- Change the locale if needed then select Continue
- Another popup should appear for enabling Read&Write in the browser
- Select Enable Now
- Depending on your browser, a settings page will appear
- Toggle on Read And Write Support
- If some features are not enabled, select the profile icon in the top-right of the Read&Write toolbar, then sign out and sign in with the correct account
