Faculty can set the persona of the responder to allow students to work through the interaction and a deeper level of thinking.

1. Log into blackboard with your sacred heart username and password.
2. Go to the courses tab and click on Courses.
3. Enter into the course section you would like to use the AI Conversation tool in.
4. On the Course Content page, select the + sign to create an item. A panel will appear with multiple options to choose from.
5. Click on the first option that says Create. A create item panel will appear on the right side of the page with multiple items to choose from.
6. Scroll down to the Participation and Engagement Section and select the AI Conversation Item.
7. Now, you have the ability to customize the AI Conversation to your liking. Enter a topic of conversation in the content text box underneath where it says "Topic." Make sure that your topic is an open-ended question that does not have a right or wrong answer.
   
8. Next, select a persona for the AI Conversation. You can provide your own image, use Unsplash, or generate an image for the persona's avatar.
9. Enter a name for the persona and briefly describe the persona occupation, personality, or mood. You can also adjust the complexity of the persona's responses.
10. Select Save when you are finished.
11. *Optional: You can preview the AI Conversation as a student and interact with the AI persona by selecting Preview Chat. Previewing allows you to check that the persona is behaving as expected.
    

Reviewing Student Interactions

• After the students submit their conversations with the AI Persona, you can review the AI Conversation transcript and your students reflections.
• The AI Conversation with appear in the grade book.
• Too grade the conversation, you go to the submissions tab of the conversation and manually input the grade each student should receive for their conversation.
