SHU Employee Laptop Self-Service Setup - Windows

Body

This procedure is intended for SHU employees that have received a new or refreshed Windows laptop. SHU employees that are due to request a new laptop or refresh their existing laptop must submit a Laptop Request form first to initiate the process.

Initial Login

  1. Connect the computer to power using the included USB-C cable.
  2. Turn on the computer.
  3. Proceed through the initial language and keyboard settings by selecting Next.
  4. When prompted for a network connection, connect to an available network then select Next. If you are on campus, use Sacred Heart. If you are at home, use your home wi-fi.
  5. Wait for the computer to install additional system updates. The computer might restart during this process.
    • A sign in page will be displayed once all updates are completed.
  6. Sign in with your full SHU email (example@sacredheart.edu), password, and multi-factor authentication.
    • If you encounter any error after entering your credentials, please contact PioTech Center for further assistance. This is typically due to too many devices already associated with an account which can be fixed without needing in-person support.
  7. Select Other user in the bottom-left.
  8. Sign in with your full SHU email (example@sacredheart.edu) and current password.
  9. Once the desktop is displayed, it will take around 5 to 10 minutes for all the standard applications to be installed and ready for use. The computer can still be used during this time. Any additional prompts to restart for system updates can be accepted when you are able to do so.
