How to Enable Content Visibility Settings in Blackboard Ultra

Summary

Visibility settings can be modified for each individual item, folder and learning module in the course.

Body

Access Content to Set Visibility

  1. Enter your course
  2. Select the content you would like to modify the visibility settings for and open it.
  3. In the top right corner, select visibility settings, and chose the best option based on the information below.

    • Visible to Students: the learning module will be available to all students in the course.
    • Hidden from Students: the learning module will be available to the instructor to continue to edit, but will not be available for students to view.
    • Release Conditions: the learning module will be visible based on the criteria set.
      • Select Members:  You can make the learning module visible to all members (default) or specific members or groups.
      • Date/Time: You can make the learning module visible based on a specific date/time. This is helpful when releasing content on a consistent schedule.
      • Performance: You can make the learning module visible based on a student's performance on an assessment. This is helpful when you want to provide additional resources to students that may be struggling.

Content Display Settings

When using release conditions, you can choose whether the item appears on the course content list when the students do not have access.

  • Show: All course members can see this item in the content list, but they can't open it until all release conditions are met.
  • Hide: Hidden items do not appear in the content list until release conditions are met.
