Assessment Question Type: Fill In The Blank

Steps to create a fill in the blank question for a Blackboard Ultra assessment.

Body

A Fill in the Blank question consists of a phrase, sentence, or paragraph with a blank space where a student provides the missing word or words. The maximum number of answers you can provide for a blank is 100.

  1. Access the assessment you are adding the question to.
  2. Select the + sign in the middle of the page and select Add Fill in the Blank Questions.

  3. In the text box provided, enter the number of points the question is worth. 
  4. In the text box provided, enter the question text. Include brackets around the fill in the blank answers.
  5. Select Next Step when you are ready.

  6. For each blank, determine if you would like the answer entered to be an exact match or a contain match.
  7. For each blank, determine if you would like the answer entered to be case sensitive.
  8. Repeat steps 6 & 7 for each step.

  9. You can enter automated feedback for correct and incorrect responses by enabling the feature and adding feedback to the respective text boxes.
  10. Select save to save your question progress.
