How to Use the Artificial Intelligence Lab

Welcome

Upon waking the touch panel, the user will be presented with a welcome screen. 

  1. Enter Classroom Mode: Press this button to use the AV system in classroom mode. Classroom mode utilizes the video projector and the retractable projection screen.
  2. Enter Video Wall Mode: Press this button to use the AV system in video wall mode. Video wall mode utilizes the room's video wall panels located in the front of the room. 

Classroom Mode: Home Screen

After selecting Classroom Mode, the user will be brought to the Home Screen where they will be able to choose what activity they would like to do. 

  1. Source Selection Area: This area is where users will select which source they choose to present with. This user guide will cover each of these sources later in the guide. 
  2. Power Button: This power button will bring the users to the system shut down page. This will not shut the system down. The user will need confirm the system shutdown from the system shutdown page. 
  3. Help Button: pressing the lightbulb button will bring ip a new screen with the InfoTech support number if the user needs assistance with the technology in the room. 
  4. Volume Up: This up arrow button will raise the volume of audio going to the speakers. 
  5. Volume Down: This down arrow button will lower the volume of the audio going to the speakers. 
  6. Volume Mute: Pressing the speaker icon will mute audio going to the speakers in the room. 
  7. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Classroom Mode: Podium Computer

Sacred Heart University provides a podium computer in all classrooms for faculty to use to assist in teaching. The user will need to use the provided mouse and keyboard to sign into the in-room computer in order to use that functionality. 

  1. Selected Computer Button: When the user selects the Computer button, the text will turn red, confirming their selection. 
  2. Camera Control Button: In this room, the in-room camera will be adjusted on the camera. Press this button to adjust the camera position for Zoom and Microsoft Teams classes. 
  3. Volume Up: This up arrow button will raise the volume of audio going to the speakers. 
  4. Volume Down: This down arrow button will lower the volume of the audio going to the speakers. 
  5. Volume Mute: Pressing the speaker icon will mute audio going to the speakers in the room. 
  6. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Classroom Mode: Laptop

Sacred Heart University provides each classroom with a red HDMI cable meant for faculty to use with their own laptops. In addition to the HDMI cable each classroom is equipped with an adapter attachment with various connection adapters for added functionality. 

Please note: Unlike the In-Room Computer, the user laptop functionality does not have access to the In-Room camera. Additionally, unlike the In-Room Computer, the user will only be able to send one image from their Laptop. 

  1. Selected Laptop Button: When the user selects the Laptop button, the text will turn read, confirming their selection. 
  2. Power Button: Press the power button to go to the System Shutdown page. 
  3. Volume Up: This up arrow button will raise the volume of audio going to the speakers. 
  4. Volume Down: This down arrow button will lower the volume of the audio going to the speakers. 
  5. Volume Mute: Pressing the speaker icon will mute audio going to the speakers in the room. 
  6. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Classroom Mode: BluRay Player

Sacred Heart University provides each classroom with a Blu-Ray Player for faculty to use if they have a Blue-Ray or DVD they would like to play for the class. The Blu-Ray Player is located in the equipment rack in the podium. 

  1. Selected Blu-Ray Player Button: When the user select the Blu-Ray Player button, the text will turn red, confirming their selection. 
  2. Blu-Ray Player Controls: When the Blu-Ray is selected. The center area of the panel is populated with an assortment of buttons to control the player. This will help the user navigate menus as well as play, pause, skip, forward, and back while playing a Blu-Ray or DVD. 
  3. Power Button: Press the power button to go to the System Shutdown page. 
  4. Volume Up: This up arrow button will raise the volume of audio going to the speakers. 
  5. Volume Down: This down arrow button will lower the volume of the audio going to the speakers. 
  6. Volume Mute: Pressing the speaker icon will mute audio going to the speakers in the room. 
  7. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Classroom Mode: Doc Cam

Sacred Heart University provides each classroom with a document camera to be used by faculty. The document camera may need to be powered by the user to display properly in the classroom. 

  1. Selected Doc Cam Button: When the user selects the Doc Cam button, the text will turn red, confirming their selection. 
  2. Power Button: Press the power button to go to the System Shutdown page. 
  3. Volume Up: This up arrow button will raise the volume of audio going to the speakers. 
  4. Volume Down: This down arrow button will lower the volume of the audio going to the speakers. 
  5. Volume Mute: Pressing the speaker icon will mute audio going to the speakers in the room. 
  6. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Classroom Mode: Air Media

Sacred Heart University provides each classroom with a Crestron Air Media. The Air Media is a wireless presentation system. Faculty can use this to wirelessly present from phone or laptops. Follow directions on the Air Media screen for details on how to connect a device. 

  1. Selected Air Media Button: When the user selects the Air Media button, the text will turn red, confirming their selection. 
  2. Power Button: Press the power button to go to the System Shutdown page. 
  3. Volume Up: This up arrow button will raise the volume of audio going to the speakers. 
  4. Volume Down: This down arrow button will lower the volume of the audio going to the speakers. 
  5. Volume Mute: Pressing the speaker icon will mute audio going to the speakers in the room. 
  6. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Classroom Mode: Camera Control

Sacred Heart University provides each classroom with an In-Room Camera that can be used to record or stream classes to remote support. The camera is only available through the In-Room Computer. 

  1. Selected Camera Control Button: When the user selects the Camera Control button, the text will turn red, confirming their selection. 
  2. Preset Buttons: Up to 4 present camera positions can be saved with these buttons. Press and hold the button for 5 seconds to save a camera position. Press the button once to recall a preset. 
  3. Zoom Button: Use the buttons to zoom the camera image in and out to get the preferred image. 
  4. Pan and Tilt Button: Use these buttons to pan and tilt the camera to get the preferred position. 
  5. Power Button: Press the power button to go to the System Shutdown page. 
  6. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Video Wall Mode: Video Wall Routing

When the user selects the Video Wall mode button, they will be brought to this page. This Video Wall Routing page is where the user will send various sources to the video wall. Additionally, the user can select the video wall layout of their preference. 

Please note: In addition to the video sources available in Classroom Mode, Video Wall mode has 9 Apple TV's and a rear rack HDMI input available for use. 

  1. Video Wall Routing Button: When the user selects Video Wall Mode on the welcome screen, they will be brought to this page. By default, the Video Wall Routing button will be highlighted. 
  2. Select Input to Send Section: This section is where the user will select what video source they would like to send to the video wall. 
  3. Select Video Wall Mode Section: If the user wants to use the video wall in any mode other than as one image, they will need to choose one of the other options in this section. 
  4. Send Selected Input to Video Wall Segment: Once a user has selected an input, they will need to choose which panels on the video wall they want to send that input to. 
  5. Power Button: Press the power button to go to the System Shutdown page. 
  6. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Video Wall Mode: Apple TV Control

As mentioned above, video wall mode has an additional 9 Apple TV's available for use. Press the Apple TV Control button to the brought to the Apple TV Control page. 

  1. Apple TV Control Button: When the user selects the Apple TV Control button, the button will change to red, indicating their selection. 
  2. Select Apple TV to Control Section: This section is where the user will select what Apple TV they would like to control. 
  3. Apple TV Control Section: Once the user has selected an Apple TV to control, they can use the Up, Down, Left, Right, Enter, Menu, and Play/Pause buttons to control the selected Apple TV. 
  4. Power Button: Press the power button to go to the System Shutdown page. 
  5. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Video Wall Mode: Blu-Ray Control

If the user is in video wall mode and is using the Blu-Ray Player, they can navigate to the Blu-ray Control page to control the rooms Blu-Ray player. 

 

  1. Blu-ray Control Button: When the user selects the Blu-Ray Control button, the button will change to red, indicating their selection. 
  2. Blu-ray Control Section: The user can use the Up, Down, Left, Right, Enter, Menu, Eject buttons as well as the standard Play, Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, Rewind, Skip Forward, Skip Back buttons to control the Blu-ray Player. 
  3. Power Button: Press the power button to go to the System Shutdown page. 
  4. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Video Wall Mode: Display Control

  1. Display Control Button: When the user selects the Display Control button, the button will change to red, indicating their selection.
  2. Video Wall Monitor Power Control Section: On and Off buttons are available to turn all video wall displays on or off.
  3. Power Button: Press the power button to go to the System Shutdown page. 
  4. Previous Button: Press this button to return to the welcome screen. 

Help Page

The Crestron touch panel has help page programmed into it. Press the lightbulb button on the right side of the panel to access this page. Users can use the in room phone to call the number on the touch panel if they need assistance with classroom technology. 

  1. Previous Screen Button: Press the red arrow button to be brought to the previous screen. 

System Shutdown

If users press the power button on the top right of the touch panel, they will be brought to the System Shutdown page. The users can choose to shutdown the system or revert to a previous page from this screen. 

  1. Yes, power down Button: Pressing this button will shut down the AV system in the room. The touch panel will then return to the Welcome screen shown at the beginning of this guide. 
  2. No, take me back Button: Pressing this button will return the user to the page they were previously on.
