How to Copy Course Sections in SCOP in Colleague

Summary

This utility can be used when you want to copy an existing course section and you don't want to recreate all the detail. This is useful when a section has a similar setup to an existing course section that has a lot of detail.

Copying Course Sections in SCOP

  1. Log in to Colleague and go to the SCOP screen
  2. Search for the existing course section you want to copy from
  3. Enter the new section code in the New Section field (for example you are creating section BB based on a copy of section AB)
  4. Change the Status if you want it to differ from the course you are creating
  5. Enter a Y in the Hide in Course Catalog only if you do not want the course section to appear in the course catalog on SPA
  6. Delete the existing faculty by clicking on the number block next to the faculty assignment and then confirm the Delete twice to remove the faculty from the SCOP screen
  7. Click Finish to get back to the SCOP screen
    1. Note:  DO NOT search for the new faculty that you want to assign to the course, there is an existing bug with this process where if you delete the old faculty and add the new one, the system creates orphaned records for the old faculty that will not appear FASC but will appear on the FCSI screen as well as any reports run on course sections.
  8. Make any necessary changes to the Instructional Methods, Building, Room, Start Time, End Time, Days of the Week, Start End Dates and Frequency
  9. Once all your changes are done, click Save and Update out of the SCOP screen
  10. Go directly into the FASC screen or detail to FASC from SECT to assign the faculty to the newly created course section from the above copy procedure
  11. Assign your faculty and save changes
