How to Start AI Companion During a Meeting
During a live meeting, the host can enable Meeting Summary to create a summary of the meeting from the time it is enabled. The summary is automatically shared with the host and can be shared with other participants by email and through Team Chat, if continuous Meeting Chat is available for the meeting.
- Start the meeting as the host with using the app or web browser version
- In the meeting control bar, click AI Companion
- Under Who can ask Questions to AI Companion? Select which group of meeting participants can interact with AI Companion.
- All Participants: allows all participants to ask questions about all since AI companion is active
- All Participants only when they join: Allows all participants to ask questions about discussion since they joined the current meeting
- Only hosts: allow only the original host, alternative host, and users with host privileges assigned before the meeting starts ask questions about all discussions since AI companion is active
- Click Start to begin the meeting conversations analyzed. A transcript of the meeting will begin to be generated for Ai Companion to reference, and participants will see a notification informing them that AI companion is active.

How to Enable Requests During a Meeting
- If the host does have AI Companion enabled for their meetings, any meeting participants can request that it be started for the current meeting. The host will request to start the AI Companion for the current meeting
- If the host does not have AI Companion enabled in their meetings, the host, co-hosts, and any participants can request that it be enabled
- If the host or another meeting participant is an admin, they will be prompted to enable it during the meeting
- For Pro-accounts: an admin in the meeting will be prompted to enable both the in-meeting AI Companion feature and the web-portal AI companion setting through the meeting window prompt. This will take effect immediately
- For Business accounts and higher: an admin in the meeting will be prompted in the meeting window to open the web portal and enable AI Companion setting. This will take effect upon the next meeting start.
How to Request AI Companion As a Participant
- If the host does not have AI companion enabled for the current meeting, host and any participants can request this be enabled for use
- Join a meeting with the zoom desktop application.
- In the meeting control toolbar, click AI Companion. If not currently enabled for the meeting, the participant will be prompted to request feature enablement.
- Click Send Request. The request will be sent to the host (if an admin) or any admins in the current meeting. If no admins are present, an email request is sent instead.
How to Stop AI Companion as the Host
- If the host wants to discuss topics informally without AI Companion for in-meeting queries, they can disable AI Companion
- In the meeting control toolbar, click AI Companion
- In the top left corner, click Disable. You will be prompted to confirm disabling AI companion in the current meeting.
- Click Disable to confirm
How to Ask Questions about the Meeting with AI Companion
- With Ai Companion active for the meeting, all participants will be able to ask questions about the meeting discussions thus far. It is important that your caption language is set correctly. If no caption language has been set, English has been used by default
- In the meeting click Control toolbar, click AI Companion. The AI Companion will open on the right side of the meeting window. (Note: if this is the first time opening AI companion in the current meeting, some typical preset questions are provided. Any subsequent views of the panel for the current meeting will have your questions and responses thus far show instead.)
- Click a Provided Question, or click the Text Box Compose Box at the bottom of the panel to enter a custom question. Zoom’s AI Companion will provide a generated response based on what it has heard and properly analyzed thus far in the meeting.
- Click either Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down to rate the generated response
- Enter another custom question, or click the ellipsis … to view additional preset questions.
How To Create a Message Using Team Chat Compose
In Team Chat, finding the right words can be challenging and Chat Compose with AI Companion allows you to write Team Chat messages by using context from your conversation. You will have the ability to change messages by adding tone, inputting prompts, or changing the length of the message.
- Sign into the meeting
- Click the Team Chat Tab
- click the AI Companion icon in the client message box, or at the bottom of the client window. A window will open to generate a message
- Provide a draft of what your response would look like, or enter in the Tell AI Companion to... box. This gives additional context and a sample of your writing style for zoom AI Companion to mimic in its generated reply. (Max 1,000 characters per response)
- Click Generate, and your response will appear
- You can reconfigure your response with the Make Longer, Make Shorter, or Change Tone to... options. Select one of these options, and click Generate for a new response
- When you are satisfied with the generated response, click Insert or Replace.
- Press Enter or click the Send icon.
