MySHU Portal Login is Requesting an Emergency Phone Number

Issue Description

When logging in using https://myshu.sacredheart.edu, the login process takes you to a form to enter emergency phone number, which looks like the below.

Environment

  • MySHU Portal
  • Okta Account Management System

Resolution

This is expected behavior of the system.  It means that the account you're logging in with does not have an emergency phone number attached to it.  Please enter a valid phone number and click submit to continue logging in.  

Cause

When a member of the Sacred Heart University community has not yet declared their emergency contact phone number, the system prompts the user to enter one. This phone number is only used for emergency notifications by various essential departments such as Public Safety and Information Technology.
