The Course Copy Content tool in Blackboard Ultra supports efficient course management by enabling the reuse of lectures, assignments, and resources while saving time and keeping everything consistent. If you are copying course content from another instructor's course, you need to be enrolled as a Teaching Assistant (TA) in order to have access to their course content.
How to Copy an Entire Course Section
- Log into the MySHU portal and login with your Sacred Heart email address and password.
- Enter into the course shell that has zero content in it. This is where you will start and use the copy course content tool.
- Click on the add content button in the center of the course content page.

- Now click on the Copy Content option underneath the Create option.

- Next, in the search bar, type in the exact course ID of the course you are trying to copy content from. In the example below, the user only has instructed three total courses. Others will have more depending on how many academic years they have spent instructing at SHU. This is why we recommend typing in the course ID in the search bar to narrow down the exact course selection.
- Once you see the course, you will like to copy over into the empty course. Click on the Empty Check box next to the course you want. (DO NOT click on the arrows to the right of the course, or else you are going to drill down into the course to pull specific items. Doing this will NOT copy over your items linked to your OVERALL GRADEBOOK SETUP.)

- Lastly, click on Start Copy. It may take a minute or two, depending on the amount of content that is being copied over.
- Now, you should see all your content populate into your course shell.
Note: If you are copying from a previous term. You need to go and change all the dates and times for your assignments once they are copied over because they are set in a past time. The old dates will automatically populate zeros in as a grade for the newly enrolled student's because the due dates has already occurred.
How to Copy Individual Items from Another Course
- Enter into the course that does not have the course item
- Click on the Circle with a plus sign as if you were creating a new course item.

- Now click on the Copy Content option underneath the Create option.
- In the search bar, enter the course ID that you are trying to copy a specific item from. Once the course is displayed, click on the course's arrow on the right to drill down into the course materials.

- Next, click on the Content Folder arrow on the right to drill down into the course again.

- Now, you will see all the content in the course. Some items may be in modules, and others might be in folders depending on your course design. If needed, you can copy over an entire module or folder. If specific item's are embedded in a module or folder, then click on the arrow next to the module or folder to drill down and proceed with checking off the empty check box next to the specific item.

- Finally, click on the Start Copy button in the lower right-hand corner.
