Compromised Account General Information

Description

A compromised account signifies a critical breach of the digital security infrastructure designed to safeguard the academic and personal information of students, faculty, and staff. This breach occurs when unauthorized individuals gain access to user accounts, often exploiting vulnerabilities such as weak passwords, phishing schemes, or malware attacks. The consequences of a compromised account are multifaceted and extend beyond the immediate concerns of data privacy. Student records, sensitive research data, and institutional communications may be exposed, posing significant risks to the confidentiality and integrity of information. Furthermore, the potential for academic fraud, identity theft, or the manipulation of research findings poses a serious threat to the credibility and reputation of both individuals and the educational institution as a whole.

In response to a compromised account, the IT Security team will implement comprehensive security measures. This includes notifying affected individuals, initiating password resets, and conducting thorough investigations to identify the source and extent of the breach.

How to Access

There are no steps for accessing a compromised account. If you believe your account has been compromised, your only action item is to report it to IT Security and await guidance from the team.
