How to Create Documents in Blackboard Ultra

Documents allow an instructor to combine different types of content including text, images and video.

Create a Document
- Enter your course
- In the middle of the page, select the + icon where you would like to add the document
- Select create
- From the panel that opens to the right, select document
- In the top left corner, enter a name for the document you are creating
- In the middle of the screen, select a method to add content to the document
- Add Content - use the WYSIWYG editor to add text, images and more. Be sure to use the built in formatting options to maintain accessibility requirements.
- Add HTML - familiar with HTML coding? Expand your document creation options!
- Upload from Computer - if you already have the content prepared, go ahead and upload the file.
- Upload from Cloud Storage - if you are a Microsoft OneDrive user, you can add content from your account.
- Browse Content Collection - add content that may be shared with you in the content collection.
- Continue to add content as needed by selecting the + sign and choosing your add content method of choice.
- When you are done adding content, set the module visibility by selecting hidden from students in the top left corner
Visibility Options
- Visible to Students: the learning module will be available to all students in the course.
- Hidden from Students: the learning module will be available to the instructor to continue to edit, but will not be available for students to view.
- Release Conditions: the learning module will be visible based on the criteria set.
- Select Members: You can make the learning module visible to all members (default) or specific members or groups.
- Date/Time: You can make the learning module visible based on a specific date/time. This is helpful when releasing content on a consistent schedule.
- Performance: You can make the learning module visible based on a student's performance on an assessment. This is helpful when you want to provide additional resources to students that may be struggling.
