Issue Description
When someone with an active SHU account attempts to log in to Student Planning and Advising (SPA), they might receive an error message and are unable to access the service. The error message will mention an issue with an authentication method such as PasswordlessPhoneSignIn.

Environment
Logging in to spa.sacredheart.edu on a supported browser
Resolution
- Remove your SHU account info from your browser by doing at least one of the following
- Navigate to spa.sacredheart.edu, enter your SHU email, then select Next
- Select Use your password instead and do not enter the displayed MFA code in to your authenticator app
- Enter the password for your SHU account, then select Next
If the above steps do not work or you want to avoid the issue in the future, follow the steps below to remove Passwordless Phone Sign In from your account.
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone
- Select your SHU account
- Select the Settings icon in the top-right
- Select Disable passwordless sign-in
- Select Disable
- Open a new browser tab and sign into spa.sacredheart.edu
Cause
SPA login now utilizes single sign-on (SSO) with multifactor authentication (MFA). However, there is a known issue where SPA currently does not support Passwordless Phone Sign In and some push notification authentication methods. This may cause users to receive an error message when their account has access to SPA.
