How to Record a Zoom Session and Locate the Video in Zoom and in Echo 360

Zoom offers two types of recordings: computer and cloud. Computer recordings, available with all Zoom accounts, are saved directly to your computer. Cloud recordings, available with our SHU paid accounts, are stored on the Zoom Cloud, allowing them to be viewed, shared, and downloaded. Both options provide standard MP4 video, M4A audio, and chat text files.

When you record to the cloud, your video will automatically show up and be available to you in your Echo 360 library. Once it lives in Echo 360 you can easily share it through Blackboard.

Procedure

Once your meeting begins, you can start recording by clicking Record  at the bottom of your Zoom meeting window (you may have to click the ellipses for more options to find the it). If cloud recording is enabled, you may choose between Record to this Computer or Record to the Cloud. The recording will start when a recording indicator appears in the upper left corner of your Zoom window, accompanied by the word "Recording".

  1. Click on the pause  icon if you want to pause the recording.
  2. Click on the start  icon when you are ready to resume recording.
  3. Click on the stop   icon when you’re ready to stop the recording.

Locate a computer recording

Your computer recordings are stored to your computer hard disk. By default, they’re in your Documents folder in a folder named zoom. You can also enable automatic recording, a setting that is off by default.

Locate a cloud recording

Your cloud recordings are stored in the Zoom cloud. They are in your Recording and Transcripts tab of your Zoom web portal, which you can password protect, share, and download. This feature is available to paid Zoom Pro, Business, Education, and Enterprise plan subscribers. With cloud recording capabilities, you can record from your mobile device, a Zoom Room, as well as your desktop.

Locating your Cloud Recordings in Echo 360

Here at SHU we have your cloud recordings set to automatically share to your Echo 360 Folder. Once you have finished recording in Zoom to the cloud, you can log into Echo 360 with your SHU credentials and find it in your Library
