Custom Hardware Request

Description

Custom Hardware Requests

Need technology equipment that isn’t included in the university’s standard hardware catalog? The IT Procurement team can help evaluate and process custom hardware requests that fall outside of approved models.

This may include specialized computers, lab devices, peripherals, or other equipment required for research, instruction, or administrative use.

What to Include in Your Request

To help us review your custom hardware request efficiently, please provide:

  • A description of the item(s) you’re requesting
  • A justification or business need
  • Any quotes or specifications from a vendor
  • Intended use (classroom, lab, research, etc.)
  • Desired delivery timeline

What Happens Next

After you submit your request:

  1. IT Procurement will review the request for compatibility, security, and supportability.
  2. If needed, we will consult with other teams (e.g., IT Security, Infrastructure) and make recommendations.
  3. Once approved, we’ll assist with vendor engagement, sourcing, and final procurement.

All requests are subject to university purchasing policies and budgetary approvals.

Important Notes

  • If you're requesting equipment as part of a project, it may also need to be reviewed under our Software/Contract Review process.
  • Start early—the review and ordering process may take several weeks, especially for specialized items or international vendors.
