Laptop Loaner

Description

IT Service Desk provides laptop loaners for three specific occasions: during supported laptop repairs, for one day use associated with exams/testing or staff/faculty borrow, and for staff/faculty multi-device loan requests.

Once the ticket requesting loaner devices is in progress, a client receives an email requesting to accept the Laptop Loaner Agreement. To do so, please use the Laptop Loaner Agreement button on the right to accept terms and conditions for a laptop loaner.

Note: loaner agreements submitted without an approved loaner request will be canceled.

Laptop Repair:

While the device is in repair by the IT Service Desk, the owner of the device is eligible for a loaner laptop. IT Service Desk will make an attempt to accommodate the user by providing a Mac device for Mac users and Windows device for Windows users from the available loaner pool. IT Service Desk does not provide loaner laptops for laptops not in its care (for example, a laptop in repair at the Apple Store).

One Day Loaner:

IT Service Desk provides laptop loaners during exam season for clients with incompatible devices. Additionally, staff/faculty who forgot their device or need a device in a pinch can borrow the laptop to complete their work. Laptop loaner approval for this purpose depends on loaner availability. This type of loan should not exceed one day. Ideally, a laptop should be picked up in the morning and returned before the end of the day.

Event Loaners:

IT Service Desk may provide multiple loaner laptops to staff/faculty requesting multiple devices for an event or examination. Please note, that this is typically 4–8 devices. This type of loan should not exceed two days. Multiple device loans come in a computers-on-wheels container that must be returned along with the devices properly stored within.
