Laptop Request

Sacred Heart University provides institution-managed laptops to faculty, staff, and adjuncts to support teaching and administrative work. All laptops are configured to meet SHU security and software standards, and are tracked in the University’s asset management system.


Request Process

If you need a new or replacement laptop, please submit a Laptop Request using the request form on this page.
Once the form is completed and supervisor approval is received, your request will be reviewed to determine the best fulfillment path based on your role and available inventory.

Once a device is assigned:

  • The PioTech Center will prepare and configure the laptop.

  • You’ll be notified when it’s ready for pickup at the PioTech Center.

  • You’ll sign the Laptop Agreement acknowledging receipt.

If no laptops are currently available, a loaner device may be provided until the next refresh cycle.

 

Faculty

Full-time faculty are issued standard SHU-supported laptop models as part of the Full-Time Faculty Laptop Program.
Requests for replacements or upgrades are typically reviewed based on the device’s age, performance, and warranty status.

For new faculty members:

  • A laptop will be provisioned before the start of the academic term, if possible.

  • Requests should be submitted by the department or hiring manager as early as possible to ensure availability.

If the role is replacing a previous employee, the existing laptop may be reassigned after being securely erased and re-imaged.

 

Adjunct Faculty

Adjunct faculty may request a University laptop for instructional use if needed to support their teaching duties.
Requests are subject to approval by the department chair and the availability of devices. There is no rental fee for this device; however, if the device is reported lost, stolen, or missing, there will be a replacement fee charged to the Adjunct faculty's department.

When approved, the PioTech Center will assign a laptop from available inventory or provide a loaner for the duration of the appointment.

 

Staff

Staff members are provided University laptops based on job requirements and departmental needs through the Laptop Rental Program.
When a staff laptop needs replacement or when a new position is created:

  • Submit a Laptop Request using the request form on this page

  • The PioTech Center will confirm inventory and assign a standard model.

  • The device will be prepared and made available for pickup at the PioTech Center.

If the role is replacing a previous employee, the existing laptop may be reassigned after being securely erased and re-imaged.
