Course Numbers Are Not Equating with Other Course Numbers

In Colleague, you have the ability to equate different course numbers together so that when a degree/program evaluation is run for the student, he/she will be credited as completing the appropriate courses towards his/her degree.  Sometimes the evaluation does not pick up equated courses correct because they are not consistently coded on ACOI.  If a course number is equated to only one other course number, then you should have the same equate code on the ACOI screen for both course numbers.  If there are more than 2 course numbers to equate together, you should have one large equate code that includes all of the courses (instead of multiple lines with multiple equate codes that might leave one of the course numbers off).

Here's an example where we had trouble: 

On ACOI,

AC-105 has the following equate codes:

AC-105=AC-102

AC-222=AC-105

AC-102 has the following equate codes:

AC-105=AC-102

AC-222=AC-105

AC-222 has the following equate codes:

AC-222=AC-105

In order to have all 3 courses equate to each other, all 3 need to have both equate codes (note that AC-222 course is missing the AC-105=AC-102 equate).  The better practice to make sure all the courses are equated right is to make a new equate code on EQCD.  In this case, AC-105=AC-102=AC-222.  Then remove the existing equate codes on those 3 courses (on the ACOI form) and add in this new one that includes all 3.
